The institute aims to serve as an apex body with specific emphasis on education, training and research in the field of Mental Challenge.

The Four Steps of the Centre are :

Early Intervention Services (EIS)
Special School
Pre Vocational Centre
Vocational Centre
 

For those who require it, day boarding facilities (which include lunch) are available. Depending on the individual requirement of the child, this facilitates group intervention and remedial teaching which is a 1:1 intervention.

We also have a unique recreational-cum-activity club, OUR CREATIVE WORLD to enhance the social skills, self-advocacy & creative skills of the children with special needs.

Age range is 0-18 years
Therapist/Teacher and Student Ratio is 1:1 to 1:4

EIS Centre ( 0-4 years)

The EIS develops and delivers program for children below 4 years old. The parent/caregiver accompanies the infant in order to learn the necessary skills to carry on the stimulation at home.

That cover areas such as :

Motor skills (Gross Motor and Fine Motor)
Language and communication skills
Cognitive skills
Social skills
Self help skills

Infants come to the centre with their parent twice or thrice a week , according to a specific individual needs.

Special school (4 + years)


We have specially designed educational and therapeutic programme to meet the unique needs of children with different challenges. The school curriculum mainly focuses on practical learning outcomes and preparing students for life in the wider community. Practical learning includes-shopping, banking, physical and recreation activities and a range of skills needed in post school living. Communication, literacy and numeracy are foundation for these skills.

Pre Vocational Centre

The Ultimate aim of rehabilitation is to develop optimum personality potential and functions of the individual through treatment and training. Preparations for employment skills, which begin at elementary school, continue throughout the school years. Depending upon individual abilities, pre-vocational training is given to prepare the child to enter the world of meaningful occupation. It is an important phase of training between school (education) programme to vocational (Work) programme.

Vocational Training Centre


Training on a particular vocation is provided after the child is ready for the skill.

Four Steps provides space for developing individual personality carried out in three situations-classroom, community and in the workshop situations. The career education curriculum covers-daily living skills, personal skills, social skills, occupational competencies and vocational survival skills.

Our Creative World

This is an evening activity club with an aim to meet the social and recreational rights for the children and adults with MR.

OCW is an activity-cum-recreation club aimed at identifying, developing and improving various artistic skills which include :

Art & Craft
Activities of daily living
Community mobility and orientation
Educational and Recreational outings
